I really enjoy working with local mama’s! There is just something about supporting a small business right there in your community. I met Caitlin on a local business Facebook group and she wanted to send us products to be used in our Buccio Baby Boxes. A few days later I received a box full of beautiful reusable snack bags from this mom boss. I look forward to working with Caitlin again.
I am pleased to introduce to you, Caitlin Sharp | Mom Boss
Why did you start your shop? What inspired you?
It all started with getting a sewing machine for Mother’s Day about 4 years. I really wanted to learn how to sew. I started sewing, learning how the sewing machine worked and how to sew. I started to make things for for my oldest son. People started to ask me to make items for them. I started to get more and more requests. About 1 year after learning how to sew I opened up shop as The Tiny Human because everything I was making at that point was my son, my Tiny Human. We recently re-branded as Sharp Plant Designs. As the business has expanded into other retail avenues outside of children’s retail we decided to have a name that represents that. The Tiny Human is still alive and well in our children’s line of snack bags, accessories and birthday shirts.
What would you tell other female entrepreneurs?
Being an entrepreneur is challenging regardless. I do have the added challenge of have small children and being in business for myself. So I find myself working in weird pockets of the day. I have also come to a very important early on in my business. I have my kids with me for a relatively very short time even though some day feel longer than others. I will make my business work around my kids as much as possible. I will put their needs first.
What is coming up for your business? New and exciting product? Changes?
In late 2016/ early 2017 we’ll be offering a new line of custom-made and hand crafted accessories and services. Right now there is lots of designing going on in the shop so we can hit the ground running when our new equipment comes in.
