So I had my six week postpartum this week which meant I got the clearance to start working out again. It was hard for me to wait to exercise considering I felt mostly back to “normal” after two weeks postpartum. But I didn’t want to push it because I couldn’t afford relapsing with having to chase Sebastian around and take care of a newborn, so I took it easy.
Since I barely gained twenty pounds this pregnancy the baby weight basically fell off. By two weeks postpartum I was down to my goal weight (I know, you can hate on me now) not wanting to loose any more, and thankfully I haven’t lost anymore! I have actually gained a couple pounds back, which is ok because once I do start really working out I will loose it quickly.
I am super excited to be able to start back up again, although I am a bit nervous. I struggled with loosing too much weight and therefore my milk supply with Sebastian. So my goal this time is to not work out to loose baby weight but to build muscle, tone and tighten. I know I will never have my pre-baby body back, but I am looking forward to embracing my post baby body and all that it can do (and can’t quite any more).
I started walking with the boys two weeks ago (at four weeks pp) every day and upping my mileage as the days went on. I felt great after the walks and my endurance started building again to physical activity. This week, since I was at the 6 week mark, I started running. I was dreading it a bit, but it ended up being great!! My goal is every other morning for now while I build up my stamina. I ran both Monday and Wednesday with walks on the days in between. I was hoping to get out this morning and timing didn’t quite work out to when the baby needed to eat and my hubby needed to leave for work, so I am hoping to get out tomorrow. Next week, I am hoping to step it up a bit and use a work out program on the days I don’t run. I will update tomorrow with my “before” pictures.
