Becoming a Chemical Free Home – The Introduction

Ever since having Sebastian, I have been ever so particular about how anything he touches gets cleaned. The thought of all the chemicals in what seemed like every cleaner scared me when I thought of Sebastian being exposed to them.

I’ve never been a fan of cleaning products, something didn’t seem right to me when I’d feel sick and have a hard time breathing after cleaning my bathroom.
At times, some stuff didn’t seem clean – just whitened from bleach. So I started doing some research on non-toxic cleaners. I ended up buying some “green” products (that aren’t cheap) and I didn’t like the results, things didn’t seem really clean, just rinsed. Plus there was still that chemically smell.

I then tossed around the idea of making my own cleaners but I was very apprehensive at first. I thought it was going to take a lot of time and money (neither of which I had much of) and I wasn’t convinced they were going to work well. But, I decided to take the plunge! It was all very overwhelming at first, so I broke my list down by room of the house that I wanted to start switching out chemicals for greener, non-toxic cleaners. In the next couple weeks I will share with you my cleaners, the recipes, the results and the cost. My hope is that once I replace the chemical cleaners in my home, I will begin replacing the other product that are filled with chemicals. I can’t wait to share with you my results!!!
